collection of drawings and

letters written by children

living in Sarajevo during the

siege of that city when its

residents were under constant

bombardment and sniper fire.

amidst the ordinary preoccu-

pations of childhood. This

book is a testament to the

courage of the children and

their ability to cope with fear

and suffering without losing

their dreams of the future.

Their own words, so evocative

of childhood even when

describing the horrors of war,

are a sign of hope that the

spirit of these children will

survive and triumph.
